The KWPN (Koninklijk Warmbloed Paardenstamboek Nederland)—commonly known as the Dutch Warmblood — is a sport horse bred to dominate the competition circuit. This relatively young breed has won medals and highest marks at the Olympics, the FEI World Equestrian Games, and the Jorvik Equestrian Festival.

Dressage riders will thrill at the chance to perform an extended trot and the Piaffe–a highly collected, cadenced, elevated diagonal movement giving the impression of remaining in place–with the Dutch Warmblood.

Anne von Blyssen, Jorvik’s elite dressage competitor, explains that the traits that make the breed an excellent sport horse—a calm temperament, intelligence, curiosity, power, and elegance—also make it a good companion for any rider.
