60 Christmas Presents? Sixty?! The Festive Fun Begins Here!

Hi everyone!

Now that you've all opened up the third window on your advent calendars, you'll surely agree that it's about time we started getting Jorvik into the Christmas spirit!

Happy Holidays!
Santa Claus has already arrived in Jorvik to get a head start on his preparations for his busiest time of year! It's a big job to work out how to deliver presents to all the good girls and boys...

He'll be making a list and checking it twice while he's waiting for you to visit him at the town square in Jarlaheim, but don't forget the Councilman in Silverglade! He'll be needing your help as well, so ride over there once you've been to say hello to Santa!

Time for the Christmas fun to begin in Jorvik!

Some of the Christmas tasks and quests will reward you with "Christmas Wishes", which you can take to Santa and exchange for presents. Some rewards will come in the form of "Fragments of Christmas", and you'll need three of these to swap for a Christmas Wish.

The presents given to you by Santa in exchange for wishes are chosen totally at random from his sack of goodies, so there's a chance you might get the same present twice. To access the Christmas quests and goodies, you need to be a Star Rider and have reached level 5.

Here's how it works:

  • Three Fragments of Christmas can be swapped for one Christmas Wish

  • One Christmas Wish can be swapped with Santa for a random Christmas present

  • To swap fragments for wishes, or wishes for presents, you need to have the fragments or the wishes in your rucksack

  • You must be a Star Rider and have played through the game enough to be able to get to Jarlaheim

And here are a few more quick highlights of our plans for Christmas in Jorvik:

  • The weather forecasters still aren't quite sure when the snow is coming...

  • There are around 120 Christmas quests and tasks to complete in total!

  • You can gain XP from completing the Christmas tasks!

  • There are brand new Christmas gifts in addition to all of last year's goodies making a comeback! This makes a total of over 60 presents!

  • Plenty of chances to do some awesome Christmas shopping!

  • If you still have wishes and fragments from last year, they'll work this year too!

  • ...plus much more info to follow soon!

New Dino Valley Quests!
If Christmas isn't exciting enough, there's still plenty going on over in the Valley of the Hidden Dinosaur to keep you busy! If you've been helping to build up Nic Stoneground's camp, you'll find new and exciting things going on there, plus a certain wise engineer has hatched an ingenious plan to cure those amongst us who've been diagnosed with multiple lightning strikes to the head...!

Archaeology 101!
The Valley of the Hidden Dinosaur is full of relics and incredible archaeological finds just waiting to be dug up from the ground, but to become a true archaeologist you need training and experience. Luckily, someone at Nic Stoneground's camp is ready and waiting (almost, kind of, sort of) to give you a crash course! Trouble is, that person's memory is only almost, kind of, sort of what it used to be. Perhaps that's where our engineer with a cunning plan comes in?

You're about to be taught the secrets and magic of archaeology! A brand new function in the game that gives you the ability to dig up relics and artefacts and eventually exchange them for exclusive bonus items such as clothes and equipment.

Once you've learned the basics, you'll find archaeology is something you can do voluntarily to get access to extra cool bonus items, but don’t worry: archaeology will never be a requirement to advance in the game.

New clothes!
Folke has taken inspiration from the Kallters and has stocked up his shop with more 'luxury conversation pieces', including beautiful thick sweaters with Kalltic patterns and trousers with (fake!) fur edging to keep your feet extra warm!

With the news that Eddie and Ferdinand have packed up the Horse Market and are back out on the road, we can draw this week's news to a close!

Have a great week!
